Jason Thielke

Posted by Fabrik | July 17, 2009

This is Jason Thielke’s art. > http://www.jasonthielke.com/

Artist Statement:

Jason Thielke’s art focuses on urban landscapes and their inhabitants. A strong emotional connection to the built environment and its inevitable rise and fall provide the foundation for his work. Thielke’s aesthetic encompasses both contemporary and traditional techniques much like modern architecture; his process of drawing, composing, and transferring images mirrors the planning, deconstruction and reconstruction phases of urban gentrification.

The architectural style in his work is applied to his interpretation of the human form, which comfortably contrasts hard lines with soft features and mixed emotions. Thielke often parallels this theme with the resurgence of American figurative painting.

Thielke earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Northern Illinois University School of Art and has held solo exhibitions in Denver, Portland and Seattle.

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Shadows [installation] - 2009

This is the latest project by Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky called “Shadows”, composed of one intallation and a print series.

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Shadows [print series] - 2009

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky is a Swiss photographer who lives and works in Amsterdam, where she studied at the Rietveld Academy. Her photographic work is playful and often stresses the boundaries of the medium.

Below the most interesting project about the artist. Enjoy!

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Frozen still life I [print] 2005

Using everyday situations and observations Kovacovsky creates a naïve and disarming universe. Still her work displays a well thought out artistic vision and thus avoids the trap of being regarded as merely ‘fooling around’.

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Die dritte Natur, Ivy [Photo collage] 2008

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Die dritte Natur, Hill [Photo collage] 2008

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Town I [Photo collage] 2008

Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky - Town II [Photo collage] 2008

This is also visible on her website, which is a good example of a creative and refreshing approach for presenting work over the internet and complements her own imagery in a very convincing way.

Brian Dettmer

Posted by Fabrik | March 20, 2009

Brian Dettmer sifts through stacks of antiquated books, boxes of dusty cassette tapes, and piles of obsolete maps to uncover the perfect source and subject for his conceptual explorations and sculptural dissections. Dettmer alters pre-existing materials by selectively removing and manipulating elements as a way to allow new interpretations and ideas to emerge. With the precision of a surgeon, Dettmer uses scalpels, tweezers, and other medical instruments to carve into the surface of his found objects to reveal hidden meanings.

Bubble Drawings

To realize this art Charlotte X. C. Sullivan use an interesting technique: she mixes ink with soapy water and allows the bubbles to dry on paper. Opposites attract for one beautifull piece!
