Audiowood is a cool Design studio from Oakland, that building custom turntables and doing other audio-related woodwork! Below some words from the Audiowood Director:
“Although I’ve always had a passion for design and for constructions of my own design, the path to building custom audio components has featured some rather strange diversions. I became a carpenters apprentice shortly after graduating from college with a degree in art history and English, and studying art, design, and architecture in New York and various spots in Europe, including a summer at Parsons in Italy. But after a short stint pounding nails for the meanest Irish contractor in San Francisco, I decided I needed a bit more theory in my life. Thus commenced the successful pursuit of an MA in cultural studies (Carnegie Mellon) and a PhD in media studies (Pitt), promptly followed by an almost inevitable return to carpentry in San Francisco. After about a decade of doing custom carpentry and renovation work in the Bay Area, I’ve now focused my efforts and feel I’m safely on my way to becoming “America’s premier builder of burlwood turntables!”

Audiowood | Turntable - Barky
Barky is a simple table made from a raw-edged wood round. Rega RB251 arm, Premotec motor, and upgraded glass platter. Poly-sealed and paste waxed.
Audiowood | Turntable - Lacey
Redwood lace burl top with reclaimed redwood and maple base. Features Groovetracer/Rega sub-platter/bearing, glass platter and Rega arm spacing, and has a hidden lead shot dampening feature. Solid-brass chromed adjustable spikes.
Audiowood | Turntable - Thor
A Walnut burl and solid ebony rebirth of a Thorens td-160 mkII. Fitted for Rega arms with Michell VTA adjusters, this table is under-mounted and has retains its original suspended character. Walnut feet are removeable.
