United Visual Artist - Massive Attack Tour

For our fourth tour with Massive Attack, UVA created a new stage set, with a wide, sculptural LED screen as the centrepiece. The visual treatments, created in collaboration with Massive Attack, are the group’s most explicitly political yet. Flickering references to rendition flights, detention without charge and surveillance societies light up the stage, and computer-controlled lights, also designed by UVA, allow perfect synchronisation between the music and the visuals.

Type Trumps!

Type trumps, a play on Top Trumps, is a game in which different typefaces are attributed numerical values. These figures are then used to enable the cards to be won or lost using some of the tried and tested “Top Trumps” rules. The Type Trumps have a “ranking”, which is a subjectively ascribed positional value based on my personal favourites.

SIT DOWN by Adam Scott

Adam Scott recently graduated from UWIC (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) with a 1st Class Honours. He is an ambitious, strong and capable designer with strengths in concept generation, 2D/3D CAD, presentation skills, engineering and product development. Sustainability and biomimicry are important inspirations for his design style.

His love for the beach and the water led him to the design of “SIT DOWN”, obviously inspired by a surfboard.

Poètique de la Desaparition

Tortured, repressed, violated and manipulated throughout this conflicted planet, “the body” irrefutably becomes transformed from a mere object to an everlasting bearer of speech. It urges us to speak up and out loud, speak against it, speak for it, let it speak. This is how French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy describes the sensorial and expressive omnipotence of the body in its interference with the external world, and this is how the body emerges in the work of Ixone Sábada, a young visual artist, performer and photographer based in Bilbao, Spain.
